Database Administrator

What you will do everyday:

Design and maintain relational and non-relational database systems to meet project demand

Upgrading existing databases, setting up master/slave, replication and migrating existing databases to cloud DB services

Research to optimize database query/sp and performance

Build/execute encryption and data security policies

Work with developers to reduce resource consumption and shorten request latency

Ensure the highest level of database systems and infrastructure availability

Design backup and recovery processes for data and servers

Test and evaluate the system regularly to ensure the highest level of data security, privacy and integrity

Monitor database performance and perform regular server maintenance by applying patches and versioning when required

Analyze and identify capacity-related issues in systems and applications

Troubleshoot any database-related issues

Your Superpowers:

Minimum Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or equivalent

Minimum 5 years of experience as a Database Administrator or database-related roles

Minimum 2 years of AWS/GCP experience in administration and performance tuning of Linux-based application stacks

Experience in MySQL, Postgres and Elastic

Experience in working with GCP is a plus

GCP/AWS certification will be an added advantage

Knowledge of all things networking such as SSH, DNS, SSL/TLS, TCP/IP

Ability to dive into system logs, identify and resolve faults and issues

Experience of data backup, recovery and security

Prior experience in e-payments or the e-commerce or financial data industry is a plus

Have a penchant for digging deep and troubleshooting difficult and complex problems

Broad awareness of customer workloads and use cases, including performance, availability and scalability

Working knowledge of relational database internals (locking, consistency, serialization, recovery paths)
